Nakata's given name is written in kanji (「千智」). However, she adopted the hiragana reading (「ちさと」) as her stage name.
Originally auditioned for AKB48's 2nd and 3rd generations.
Older sister is Nakata Asaka.
Formerly part of the group Yume☆Tamago in 2006.
