AKB48 and its sister groups have performed many concerts since being established. Their performances  include events that repeated yearly, like the AKB48 Request Hour held in the SHIBUYA-AX concert hall. The venues where concerts are held range from medium sized concert halls to the largest stadiums in Japan. In addition, the 48 groups perform daily at separate theaters in varying locations.

The Nippon Budoukan (日本武道館) is a large music venue and martial arts hall in the center of Tokyo. The Budoukan was originally built for use in the 1964 Summer Olympics, as a Judo Arena.

Seibu Dome (西武ドーム) is a medium-sized dome, and baseball field, the home of the Saitama Seibu Lions.

The dome was AKB48's first dome concert.

The dome has no wall behind the stands, which allows natural air-conditioning instead of having to pay money for inside air-conditioning. This was however a disadvantage during AKB48's concert their, as the temperature was too hot, and Maeda Atsuko ended up fainting.
