Yoshimotozaka46

Yoshimotozaka46 (吉本坂46) was a Japanese idol group and the 2nd sister group of Nogizaka46. The group is a collaboration between the Yoshimoto talent agency and SME, with Akimoto Yasushi as their producer. The 1st Generation members were announced on August 21, 2018.

Differently from the other groups of the Sakamichi Series, Yoshimotozaka46 was a co-ed group composed of talents and comedians signed to the agency Yoshimoto Kogyo regardless of their gender. The group was also divided into units.

On October 29, 2021, it was announced that the group would suspend its activities from February 5, 2022 and would enter "hibernation", an indefinite hiatus.

Overview[]

On February 21, 2018, Yoshimoto Creative Agency Co. , Ltd. held a meeting at Yoshimoto ∞ Hall in Tokyo with the attendance of 114 talents and entertainers, and Fujiwara Hiroshi, the president of the company, formed "Yoshimotozaka46". The announcement was made by Akimoto Yasushi.
This was named after the Osaka-based entertainment company, Yoshimoto Kogyo Holdings.
Because they are part of Yoshimoto Kogyo, which is related to Showtitle (NMB48's Agency) Miaki Riho and Takano Yui, who graduated from NMB48, joined the group.
From its formation to its hibernation, their group captain was Koumoto Junichi.
The current COVID-19 situation does not allow for normal performances; however, they would like to continue to thrill audiences with performances in the future. The group will temporarily end its activities with an anniversary performance at Zepp Haneda on February 5, 2022 and bow out with a new album.

Differences from other 46/48 Groups[]

They are the first group to not be solely made up of girls. Auditions were held regardless of gender.
The group is divided into units.
It is the first group to go into hibernation.
